A local restaurant may soon have the opportunity to showcase their food on the our waterfront. The San Diego Unified Port District is seeking vendor proposals for a new walk-up cafe on Harbor Drive that will take center stage between the Broadway and B St. piers.
The 750-square-foot cafe, at 1050 N Harbor Drive, will be a walk-up structure with an order and pick-up window; there's no interior seating, but there is room for a tenant to build an outdoor patio.
Several high-profile San Diego restaurant groups and owners are reportedly interested in the cafe, whose construction will be completed early Fall 2014; proposals are due to the Port by Wednesday, May 28. Project manager Kelly Moden tells Eater that they're encouraging applications that incorporate "locally sourced food products and elements of sustainability" into the restaurant concept.
