Several Eater readers alerted us to the impending opening of Swami's new North Park outpost, which debuted today and will henceforth be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
This is owner Jaime Osuna's ninth local restaurant; he operates six other Swami's, plus Honey's in Encinitas. He just took over the University Avenue space, formerly Casa de Luz, last month but things were pretty turnkey; a rep for Swami's Cafe says that aside from a few minor tweaks, the restaurant looks the same.
The menu, like at all Swami's, hinges mostly on all-day breakfast, from acai bowls, fresh-pressed juice and smoothies to omelettes and breakfast burritos. The North Park cafe will have a new assortment of gourmet pancakes, including sweet potato, blue corn, orange-raspberry and ricotta, plus offer twelve variations on eggs Benedict. There will also be a salsa bar and a self-serve coffee counter with 14 different coffees to choose from.
Swami's Cafe is currently waiting for their beer and wine license to come through. When it does, they'll turn the elevated space in the back of the restaurant into a sports bar serving craft beer, wine and soju-based cocktails.
