We have come to the end of an era. Eater has learned that Gen Lai Sen, the Chinese restaurant which has stood stalwart at the corner of Park Boulevard and C Street for decades, is in its twilight.
Operating in the East Village for the past 28 years, Gen Lai Sen will reportedly shut its doors at the end of May.
The eatery, which is open seven days a week from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, has an extensive menu that's mix of Americanized Chinese cuisine, seafood dishes and some Hakka specialties.
The property has a large footprint and an ample parking lot; Eater was told the building's being razed for a new development.
