Poolside Pig Roast; Taste of Cardiff; Bacon & Barrels

DOWNTOWN— A backyard BBQ-style pig roast is going down at Hotel Palomar's SummerSalt Rooftop Pool & Lounge on Sunday, April 13, 2014. The poolside perch opens at 1 p.m. with beer from Saint Archer Brewing Company and a chance to meet the brewers. At 2 p.m., chef Jeremiah Bryant will bring out a whole roasted pig and sides that'll range from jalapeno corn bread to yams with ginger and orange. Advance tickets for the pig party are $20 and include all food and a beer. [EaterWire]

CARDIFF— The 5th Annual Taste of Cardiff is scheduled for Thursday, May 8. From 5 to 8 p.m., stroll the neighborhood and sample food from over 20 Cardiff-by-the-Sea eateries including Bull Taco in the San Elijo State Campgrounds, VG Donut & Bakery and Zenbu. Plus, taste wine and beer from Carruth Cellars, Culture Brewing Co., The Lost Abbey and more. Tickets are $25 in advance or $35 with beverages. [EaterWire]

EMBARCADERO— A Santa Barbara-based festival is headed to San Diego next month. Bacon & Barrels on Saturday, May 31 is an all-day fest at Embarcadero Marina Park South that'll stuff you full of bacon-inspired food and wine, beer and spirits. A percentage of ticket sales will go to support the Surfrider Foundation and live bands, including The Stone Foxes, will provide entertainment. Sign up for VIP status and get entry into a dinner on Friday, May 30, cooked by Top Chef alum and MTV's House of Food's Brooke Williamson, with beer and bourbon pairings by "Dr. Bill" Sysak of Stone Brewing Co.
