Before Scott Slater goes whole hog on his new concept, Swine Bar, launching in San Diego later this year, he's bringing his seventh Slater's 50/50 to San Marcos.
There's room for over 250 in the dining room, which is dominated by a mural of Slater hoisting a beer with a group of pigs painted by artist Susanne Krausse.
The bar in San Marcos has a whopping 102 taps, including more than 20 beers local to North County.
New to the menu, anchored by Slater's signature half-bacon burger patty, is their 50 Alarm Burger, a special that's been upgraded to permanent status. It's topped with ghost pepper jack cheese, bacon habanero spread, fresh jalapeno and beer-battered habanero poppers; eating it requires signing a waver, and gloves are provided. Also new are a variety of chicken wings in flavors that range from maple bourbon bacon to Dr. Pepper, several new salads and sandwiches and a list of variations on the mule cocktail.
