The Griffin in Bay Park has seen its last show and will have new proprietors by next month.
The sale of the 2,900-square-foot live music venue, facilitated by Location Matters, went to the owners of the Regal Beagle on India Street, who opened Regal Seagull in North County last March.
Co-owner Jesse Melton told Eater that they'll be taking hold of the site on May 1 and plan to shift the concept from a music club to a comfortable neighborhood bar they're calling Sidecar. Melton says they'll brighten the space and take out the stage to make room for some arcade games to encourage hanging out, though the possibility for occasional live music will remain.
Sidecar's bar program will center around "honest cocktails" along with the well-chosen selection of craft beers their other spots are know for.
