A Posh Spot for Afternoon Tea

A new British import has arrived in downtown La Jolla. Mary's English Kitchen soft opened this month and has a grand opening scheduled for Sunday, April 6, when their full food menu will kick in.

Inspired by recipes from their family's matriarch, Mary's will serve breakfast, brunch, lunch and afternoon tea. Available starting at 2 p.m., the white tablecloth and fancy china deal includes a pot of tea, finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and assorted homemade cakes and pastries.

Other classic dishes, from bangers and mash to toad in the hole, will rotate through their daily lunch menu. Starters for the day run from crumpets to a full English breakfast.
