Welcome to our photo series Eater Scenes, where Eater photographer Mike Newton visits some of the city's great restaurants to capture them at a certain, and very specific, point in the day.

Today, in honor of Pizza Week 2014, we take you inside Pizzeria Luigi's flagship restaurant in Golden Hill, which first opened in 2004. The pizzeria's New York-style pies were already popular by the time Guy Fieri and his spiky hair featured the eatery back in 2008 and declared it his "favorite West Coast pizza" but the Food Network exposure and subsequent lines prompted Luigi's to open a second location on El Cajon Boulevard in 2009.

Fieri is such a fan that he revisited them last summer for another episode of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Despite all that, locals still love their slices. Take a tour below and stay tuned for a bonus Eater Scenes later in the week.
