Acting on a tip, Eater has confirmed that Los Angeles landmark restaurant, Water Grill, has swooped up The Palm's space recently relinquished by the partners behind another seafood-centric concept, the almost-was Roosterfish.
The East Village restaurant will be the Water Grill's first San Diego spot and its third location featuring an extensive oyster and raw bar selection and seasonal seafood menu.
First opened in downtown Los Angeles in 1989, executive chef Damon Gordon joined the restaurant after a $1.5 million renovation in 2012; in 2013, the company opened another eatery in Santa Monica. Gordon will also oversee the San Diego kitchen.
The site will undergo a major redesign and is projected to reopen in November/December 2014.
