New Watering Hole Werewolf Now Howlin' Downtown

Described as "London industrial meets grandma's house", Werewolf has prowled into the Gaslamp, replacing Gaijin, which shuttered last October.

From the owners behind The Waterfront Bar and Grill and Harbor Town Pub is a new space is dominated by an expanded bar, with seating for dining at a mix of booths and high top tables. Some walls are hung with TV's, others with framed portraits; a back wall that glitters gold was assembled by a score of spent bullet shells.

Two signature burgers from their other bars' menus have carried over here, in addition to a couple of favorite appetizers. The rest of the food options, from sandwiches to salads, are new; the full menu of scratch-made comfort food is offered at lunch and dinner, and the kitchen's open until 1 a.m. daily.

There's a craft cocktail list and 33 beer taps (only 13 are currently active) and a Monday through Friday, 3 to 6 p.m. happy hour with $4 drink specials. The owners are hoping that the new relaxed eatery will appeal to locals; they're working on permitting for a sidewalk patio and have plans to add a weekend brunch.
