The Denver-based Sage Restaurant Group just launched its first San Diego concept, Hello Betty Fish House, a Baja-inspired beachside eatery with ocean views, plenty of outdoor seating on an upper level deck and a vintage gold and white dune buggy parked in the modern, nautical-themed dining room.
Open now for lunch and dinner in Oceanside, the seafood-centric menu includes an oyster torta and West Coast version of a classic seafood boil, with shellfish, vegetables and sausage flavored in a chile-spiked, garlic beer broth. For meat eaters, there's smoked pork belly carnitas and a Loco Mogo burger topped with spam and the prerequisite fried egg and gravy.
At the 30-seat bar, there's wine, local craft beer and a variety of specialty cocktails, from the Beach Break Therapy, made with kaffir lime vodka, coconut rum, pineapple, lime and bitters to multiple margarita variations, including the slushy Offshore Spinner, which blends reposado tequila with St. Germain, grapefruit and lime.
