Name & Concept Revealed For Revamped Jimmy Love's

Florent_BW.jpgConstruction is well underway at Jimmy Love's, which just celebrated its 20th birthday by announcing that the restaurant would undergo an extensive remodel. Relaunching in its place, due by Spring 2014, is Florent Restaurant & Lounge.

Owners Jimmy and Kathy DiMatteo are still involved with the restaurant, but the team taking the lead on the revamp is comprised of Gaslamp aces David Schiffman (Double Deuce, Tipsy Crow), Bootlegger GM Mark Huber, and Scott Sanders (Whiskey Girl ).

Florent's 8,000-foot-space will occupy two levels of a circa 1874 historical building dubbed "Old City Hall". The name is derived from the structure's Florentine architecture but the food served inside will be decidedly American; chef Richard Sweeney (R Gang Eatery) is coming on board and bringing his playful culinary style to a new menu of "local, sustainable and Modern American fare, complimented by an ambitious cocktail and local craft beer selection".

Also attached to Florent Restaurant & Lounge is Onairos Design's Michael Soriano, so expect the unexpected with a touch of glamour.
