BO-beau kitchen + bar celebrates its fourth anniversary this month and will say goodbye to the chef who has shepherded the Ocean Beach restaurant since its early days.
Executive chef Katherine Humphus, who has helped the Cohn Restaurant Group open four restaurants in recent years, including Hillcrest's 100 Wines, has recently been spending time in Long Beach, running the CRG's new BO-beau outpost there; her last day with the group will be December 31.
Humphus, who graduated from the famed Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, worked at Manhattan's wd-50, The French Laundry, and ran her own catering company before joining the Cohns, is leaving the restaurant kitchen and prepping to launch an online cooking school called Kat’s Kitchen Collective on New Year's Day, a "website dedicated to bridging the gap between the home cook and the professional chef."
Citing her desire to "take a risk and switch it up", Humphus shared, "I'm super excited to return to my hometown of San Diego and share the knowledge that I've gained over the years."
Maybe now Humphus will have more time to eat around San Diego, including the spots she named in her Where the Chefs Eat feature.
The CRG says they'll make an announcement regarding Humphus' replacement early next year.
