Distillery Expands Hours; AleSmith/Mikkeller Beer Collab; Mixology Class

More hours for spirits tastings, a local/international brewery collaboration and a cocktail-mixing class.

MIRAMAR— Local distillery Malahat Spirits Co., which launched a tasting room in early October, has expanded their hours. They've been welcoming visitors on Thursdays and Fridays from noon to 6:30 p.m. and starting this weekend, they will be open on Saturdays from 2 to 5:30 p.m. with tastings of their spirits (currently a variety of rums) scheduled every half hour. MIRAMAR— In their latest newsletter, AleSmith Brewing Company teased about an upcoming collaboration with Mikkeller, saying they will embark on a project with the Danish brewery to produce a new Imperial Oatmeal Stout that takes inspiration from AleSmith's famed Speedway Stout and Mikkeller's Beer Geek Brunch Weasel; the partnership beer will be brewed with Kopi Luwak coffee, aka civet coffee. MISSION HILLS— Brooklyn Girl Eatery is hosting a mixology class this Saturday, December 6 at 3 p.m. that includes hands-on instruction on crafting four cocktails, including the ever-popular Moscow Mule.
