New Cafe & Home Store; More Xmas Dining; Beer Pairing Dinner

More coffee in Mission Hills, another Christmas Eve/Day recommendation and a beer dinner.

MISSION HILLS— A friend of Eater sent us a photo of a new cafe and home store that just opened at 1619 W Lewis Street. Kettle and Stone has a custom-built coffee bar inside it that hasn't launched service yet, but when it does, the baristas will be making coffee drinks using beans from Bird Rock Coffee Roasters. LA JOLLA— George's California Modern is a rare fine dining restaurant that stays open 365 days a year and on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, they're offering either a holiday dinner menu or a la carte options available from 5 to 10 p.m. on December 24 and 3 to 8 p.m. on December 25. Want something more casual? The upstairs Ocean Terrace is doing lunch and George's Bar is serving lunch and dinner. Call (858) 454-4244 for reservations. [EaterWire]

PACIFIC BEACH— Amplified Ale Works brewpub is hosting North County's Latitude 33 brewery on Wednesday, December 17 for a three-course beer dinner that includes grilled shrimp in lemon butter, black pepper and garam masala-crusted flank steak and an apple tart served with Lattitude 33's Carolina Honey Hips Strong Blonde, North County IPA and Nitro Vanilla Porter. There are three seatings available starting at 6:30 p.m. and tickets are $35. [EaterWire]
