Beer Week Bacon Fest; New East Village Lunch; Veterans Day Freebie

A bacon bonanza, a new lunch menu and free waffles for veterans.

MIRAMARChefs Daniel Barron (La Valencia) and Ricardo Heredia (Alchemy) are teaming up with SuperNatural Sandwiches for a pop-up to launch San Diego Beer Week at Ballast Point's huge new brewery and tasting room. This Friday and Saturday from 4 to 9 p.m., they'll be serving up a bacon-centric menu that includes a gordita made with bacon fat and stuffed with beans, braised bacon and bacon-infused guacamole, smoked bacon poutine with horseradish cheddar sauce, and bacon skewers. EAST VILLAGEBake Sale Bakery, Terryl Gavre's new temple to baked goods, just added new lunch options to their menu, including egg salad, ham and swiss and smoked turkey sandwiches on homemade bread, croissants or gluten-free bread and salads that range from mixed greens with apples, candied pecans, and mustard vinaigrette to a chef salad with meats, cheese, hard-cooked eggs and buttermilk ranch dressing. COLLEGE AREASDSU-adjacent Bruxie has released a limited edition waffle sandwich, the Buffalo Chicken Bruxie, that features a fried chicken breast coated in a Buffalo sauce and topped with a celery-carrot slaw and crumbled blue cheese.
