Chef-Driven Restaurant to Dock Anew on Mission Bay Waterfront

A promising new project in Pacific Beach.

A new multi-million dollar project is currently in construction on the coast at The Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa; Evans Hotels, which runs The Catamaran, The Lodge at Torrey Pines and The Bahia, is building a new standalone, chef-driven showcase in Pacific Beach that they hope will also resonate with the greater food community beyond the hotel's footprint.

The yet-unnamed new restaurant, due in January 2015, will be led by executive chef Steven Riemer, who worked with chef-mentor Jeff Jackson to help open The Lodge at Torrey Pines' successful standout restaurant, A.R. Valentien; Riemer's 20-plus years of culinary experience also include 11 years spent in the kitchen at The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel.

The 8,200-square-foot venue, formerly called the Atoll Restaurant, is being given a modern overhaul which will add indoor and outdoor seating with views of Mission Bay and downtown San Diego; the menu is still being refined, but chef Riemer's planning on "California comfort cuisine" hinged on seasonal ingredients.
