An Eater reader in Bankers Hill tipped us to Royal Food Mart's completion of a long-awaited remodel of the space adjacent to the market, at the corner of First and Upas, into The Royal Cafe, a new farm-to-table eatery which celebrates its grand opening this weekend.

Serving breakfast and lunch daily until 3 p.m., The Royal Cafe's menu includes egg scrambles, pancakes made with quark, and grass fed beef burgers. At night, their small plates range from empanadas to cheese and charcuterie boards.

A new liquor license means two beer taps, wine tasting classes at 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays and  a new house cocktail menu featuring bloody beers, vermouth-spiked ice tea cocktails, plus brunch drinks that include custom mimosas made with different sparkling wines and fresh juice. Their Tuesday to Friday happy hour, from 4 to 6 p.m., offers $2 off all beer and wine by the glass.
