After finding huge success with Coin-Op Game Room since the arcade bar first opened last fall on 30th Street, co-owners Roy Ledo and Hassan Mahmood said that they explored several other San Diego neighborhoods before ultimately deciding to branch out to Sacramento for their first expansion.
The duo, who also own The Lion's Share, are partnering with Evan Louis, the general manager of the restaurant and a Sacramento native, to open a second Coin-Op by March 2015.
Why Sacramento? Their new downtown spot was formerly a popular music venue and will be close to the Sacramento Kings' new NBA arena; Ledo also cited the Capitol City's up-and-coming craft cocktail scene.
New to this Coin-Op will be a menu focused on artisan pizza, overseen by corporate chef Mark Bolton.
Meanwhile in North Park, the bar just added Leigh Lecap, formerly of Ironside Fish & Oyster, to its staff; Lecap will be rolling out a new cocktail menu shortly.
Though another San Diego location is still on the table, the partners told Eater that they're also looking to open Coin-Op in various college towns across the country.
