A new speciality market opened its doors this week in Bankers Hill, powered by a local farm and an artisan food importer.
Back to Roots will carry both local and international food; permanent vendors include co-founder Philip Ariza's family-run El Campito Farms in Descanso, which specializes in heirloom varieties of produce, and partner Alvaro Miranda, whose company Iberico Taste specializes in Spanish gourmet products, including Iberico ham and chorizo.
Other featured vendors includes farmer's market favorite Prager Brothers Artisan Breads, whose handcrafted old world bread is naturally leavened, healthy food to-go from chef Flor Franco (Zarco), freshly-made pasta and sauces from Martin Gonzalez of Taste Enoteca, locally-raised chickens and eggs from Descanso Valley Ranch and a wine selection curated Baja Food + Wine's Fernando Gaxiola with boutique bottles from the Valle de Guadalupe.
