Friday morning at 10 a.m., 85°C Bakery Cafe's fourteenth store and first in San Diego will open its doors to the clamoring public, who have been pressing their noses to the windows of the Balboa Mesa storefront ever since the Asian bakery chain first announced its local expansion.
The shop, which stocks 50 breads, 25 different cakes and 30 drinks, from tea to smoothies, will be baking everything on site. Bestsellers range from their brioche and marble taro breads to sea salt-seasoned coffee drinks; recently, the company launched a new line of cookies, mini pies and strudels.
85°C Bakery Cafe's other California locations draw perpetual lines, but will San Diego queue up for these pastries? Tomorrow, the store will give away a special free gift for the first 500 customers and throughout the weekend will be giving out coupons for a free sea salt drink with any drink order and free mugs with purchases over $20.
Going forward, their hours of operation will be 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday.
