Ballast Point Oktoberfest; Común Guest Chef; Pop-Up Dinner

LITTLE ITALY— Ballast Point Tasting Room and Kitchen is celebrating its first anniversary with an Oktoberfest party scheduled for Tuesday, October 14 from 5 to 9 p.m. on their outdoor patio. The beer garden will be serving German-style beers in steins, including Dead Ringer Oktoberfest, Longfin Lager and a special anniversary ale, plus grilling up Sculpin-infused bratwurst. [EaterWire]

EAST VILLAGE— Común Kitchen & Tavern's next Mi Casa Su Casa dinner teams up chef Chad White with his guest, Drew Deckman of the superb Deckman's en El Mogor in the Valle de Guadalupe. On Thursday, October 16, the two chefs will share the kitchen and cook up a $60, six course dinner with an optional $20 cocktail pairing; get there early, at 6 p.m., for complimentary pre-dinner snacks. LA JOLLA— Just blocks from the beach, Shorehouse Kitchen will be the site of a one-night-only dinner from the Boxcar Pop-Up, founded by chef Jason Roberts. Roberts, who has been the chef liaison for Chino Farm, will be cooking up a five course, $50 dinner on Monday, October 20 at 7 p.m. featuring an abundance of local produce and a dessert from Derek Feldman, who was most recently the pastry chef at Del Mar's Kitchen 1540.
