Welcome to our photo series Eater Scenes, where Eater photographers visit some of the city's great restaurants and bars to capture them at a certain, and very specific, point in the day. Today, in honor of Cocktail Week, we document a visit to North Park's Coin-Op Game Room at 9 p.m. on a busy Friday.
Games! Beer! Cocktails! The owners of The Lion's Share launched a winning combo when they first opened a year ago.
Tonight, the 30th Street bar/arcade celebrates its first anniversary with a party that's open to the public. Bartenders Ryan Andrews and Eric Lockridge will mix up all-new cocktails for the occasion, including the North Park G & T made with gin, lime, sugar, celery bitters and a slash of tonic and the Smokin' Banana Hammock, which mixes tequila and mezcal with banana liqueur, lime and serrano bitters, while executive chef Mark Bolton handles the bar's drink-friendly menu of burgers, nachos, snacks and more.
The bar is also gearing up for San Diego Beer Week, when they'll host a different event every night, including the Green Flash Game On Challenge. There will be special beers on tap and old school game challenges against the brewery's staff, with proceeds to benefit The Movember Foundation.
On November 11, Coin-Op's bartenders will pop over to Seven Grand for the return of Tag Team, a can't miss beer cocktail competition that'll put some of the city's best bartenders in the ring. There will be wrestling costumes, bad wigs and hilarity.
