LA JOLLA— La Jolla Shores' Squires Café and Deli has a new name, new ownership and a new way to order your food. Lamar Rutherford and Bishop Thorpe's Shore Thing Café offers breakfast and lunch sandwiches, acai bowls, salads and freshly-baked muffins and cookies, plus free Wi-Fi, and accepts orders by text at (858) 333-8933. In the summer, the owners plan to offer bicycle delivery service for beachgoers and an additional walk-up window. [EaterWire] -B.Schweit

DOWNTOWNGelato Paradiso is now open at The Headquarters (789 West Harbor Dr.); the SoCal-based shop makes its small batches of gelato and sorbetto daily, in up to 30 flavors that range from pistachio to toasted almond. Blood orange sorbetto is a new seasonal flavor that's available until the end of February. They're also using local roaster Caffé Calabria for their house affogato (gelato doused in espresso) and espresso-infused shakes. [EaterWire]

UTC— The ovens at Craft Pizza Company are officially up and running at the Westfield UTC mall. The concept's exec chef, Chad White, told Eater that the planned pasta portion of the menu has been excised for this space, to allow Craft to focus on perfecting their pizza, but the pasta dishes may be added to future outposts, including more mall spots and possible street-side eateries.
