POINT LOMA— From 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, January 26 it's BYOB night at The Pearl Hotel. No, you can't bring booze, but if you bring your own bowl they will give you free soup and bread. The Pearl's Jaison Burke is teaming up with a chef pal, Green Acre's Joel Cammett, to cook up vegan root vegetable chowder, "baked potato" soup and a butternut squash soup. There will also be drink specials on beer, wine and well drinks, but please bring a canned food item to donate to a local charity. [EaterWire]

LA JOLLA— Chili fiends, secure your spots now for The Grill at The Lodge at Torrey Pines' next beer event, which features chili-spiked beers from five San Diego county breweries. Ballast Point, Coronado, Green Flash, Monkey Paw, and Stone Brewing Co. are sending their hottest stuff for a six course dinner by chef Daniel Boling; courses include Thai chicken noodle soup with Ballast Point's Thai chili-infused Wahoo Wheat and a warm mole cake paired with Green Flash's Double Stout with serrano peppers. The $80 dinner, which will be held on Wednesday, January 29, starts with a reception at 6:30 p.m. [EaterWire]
