Over the weekend, a tipster sent us the bummer news that Roseville Cozinha, the tucked-away Liberty Station restaurant, was about to serve its last meal. Owner Michael Alves, who previously ran Joao's Tin Fish Bar & Eatery in the space, closed Roseville on Saturday.

Alves, whose family has deep roots in the fishing community that established the surrounding Point Loma neighborhood, gave his casual eatery an upscale makeover last December. He brought in a new wood-fired pizza oven and developed a menu that highlighted Portuguese and Italian cuisine.

Roseville Cozinha's chef, Craig Jimenez (Craft & Commerce), moved on a few weeks ago; we hear that he officially starts today as the new chef at downtown's Asian-inspired Gang Kitchen.
