Joining the eight other breweries in the Vista Brewers Guild is Barrel Harbor Brewing, who broke the seal on their new tasting room today for a soft opening (a grand opening is scheduled for October 26).
Founded by four partners, some of them home brewers, Barrel Harbor Brewing occupies a 3,000-square-foot space that houses a 10-barrel brewing system and a nautical-themed tasting room that'll host a regular schedule of food trucks.
David Meadows is the head master brewer, who comes to Barrel Harbor with a lifetime of beer experiences under his belt, including co-founding a microbrewery in Sweden and working as a consultant for the Escondido-based Premier Stainless Systems, which crafts much of the gleaming brewing equipment seen in local breweries.
Though Barrel Harbor plans to focus on SoCal's beloved IPA's, Meadows and the brewery will also be incorporating European beer styles into the mix. An authentic German pilsner will be released soon, but for now, the core beers on tap include a West Coast IPA, a dry stout, and a red and a brown ale.
