AleSmith's New Hours; San Marcos Gets a Slater's 50/50; Latin Food Fest

MIRAMAR— AleSmith Brewing Company is expanding their tasting room hours; starting Monday, September 9, they'll officially be open every day. This coming Monday also marks the launch of their new Library Sale; starting at noon, and continuing Monday to Thursday until their stock is depleted, the brewery will sell vintage bottles, including Barrel Aged Decadence 2011 and Barrel Aged Speedway 2012. SAN MARCOS— Slater's 50/50 will be opening a new location in San Marcos that'll be accessible to the North County coastal and inland areas. The U-T reports that this branch, the company's seventh, should be open by this winter. [U-T]

AROUND TOWN— A food extravaganza is headed to town via the ¡LATIN FOOD FEST!, with culinary programming, from events to classes, scheduled from September 12-15. A couple of highlights: chef Javier Plascencia, Aaron Sanchez and Chad White will cook a Flavors of The Americas benefit dinner for the San Diego Food Bank's Childhood Hunger Initiative on Friday, September 13 at 6:30 p.m. and on Saturday, September 14 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., check out the Grand Tasting, with over 100 Latin chefs, restaurants, wine and a michelada and tequila bar; a special Baja pavilion will highlight the region's deliciousness.
