Every day in San Diego is a big one for beer, but today is especially exciting since it adds two new beer destinations to the local scene who both got a boost from Kickstarter campaigns.
2Kids Brewing Company launches their nanobrewery today at 3 p.m. in the Miramar area (8680 Miralani Dr. #123). They raised over $25,000 on Kickstarter to help build the tasting room; according to Facebook, they'll be open Thursdays through Sundays. A small brewing system means many batches and different styles of beer, from a core line-up which includes a California Common, American Cream Ale, an Ordinary Bitter and a classic San Diego Style IPA to saisons and sours, which they'll be offering by the taster, pint and growler.
Downtown Escondido is the home to Plan 9 Alehouse, which soft opens tonight at 5 p.m. The $40,000 raised on Kickstarter went to constructing a small brewery restaurant from the ground up; Plan 9 will serve their own beers, from IPAs to Belgians, and also feature guest beers from around the region. On the food side, expect beer-friendly plates including pork belly and spicy duck wings.
