New, 2 comments

The results of our Most Anticipated Fall Openings poll are in, and Eater readers seem to be super excited for the debut of Puesto's first full-service restaurant in San Diego. The La Jolla eatery is taking its Mexican street food downtown to The Headquarters, which is scheduled to open in late October.

You were similarly enthused about North Park's new Waypoint Public, BO-beau's impending debut in La Mesa and Pizzeria Mozza, also slated for The Headquarters.

But there's lots to look forward to, restaurant-wise, this fall; read on for details and projected opening dates for a dozen of San Diego's most anticipated openings.

1) Downtown: Puesto
Address: 789 West Harbor Dr.
The Scoop: Puesto's ambitious new 4,500-square-feet restaurant in The Headquarters, designed by Thomas Schoos, will expand upon its street food menu of tacos, rice bowls and salads with sharable snacks and seasonal dishes. The Queen-Connor-Ward Collective is developing a full bar program.
Projected Opening: Late October/Early November

2) North Park: Waypoint Public
Address: 3794 30th St.
The Scoop: Bottlecraft's Brian Jensen and his business partner have taken over The Linkery and are currently redesigning the space and adding more beer taps. The latest buzz surrounds the project's new executive chef, Amanda Baumgarten, a former Top Chef contestant who last cooked at La Jolla's Herringbone.
Projected Opening: Early October

3) La Mesa BO-beau Kitchen + Garden
Address: 8384 La Mesa Blvd.
The Scoop: The Cohn Restaurant Group has acquired downtown La Mesa's shuttered Gingham and is giving it a cozy makeover with help from their design collaborator Philippe Beltran. Expect some of the menu to resemble BO-beau in Ocean Beach.

4) Downtown: Pizzeria Mozza
Address: 789 West Harbor Dr.
The Scoop: The Batali & Bastianich Hospitality Group brings their fourth Pizzeria Mozza to San Diego; the eatery will include an open kitchen and its signature pizza bar and wine bar, with the addition of a Mozza2Go takeout counter. San Diego's branch will also feature 10 craft beers on tap.
Projected Opening: Late October/Early November

5) Little Italy: Ballast Point Brewing & Spirits
Address: 2215 India St.
The Scoop: Another brewery, complete with beer garden, from Ballast Point would be reason enough to celebrate, but this location will also include a restaurant helmed by chef Colin MacLaggan. The brewery will focus on special releases and seasonal beers, and mark Ballast Point's first full-fledged foray into a serious sour beer program.
Projected Opening: September

6) North Park: Coin-Op Game Room
Address: 3926 30th St.
The Scoop: The proprietors from downtown's The Lion's Share will turn what was once Hubcap on 30th Street into an upscale dive bar with food from their chef, Scott Mickelson, craft cocktails and beer. Entertainment will come in the form of a collection of vintage arcade games.
Projected Opening: October

7) Ocean Beach: OB Warehouse Street Food + Bar
Address: 4839 Newport Ave.
The Scoop: The prolific Cohn Restaurant Group is at it again, this time bringing a 6,000-square-foot bi-level bar food-focused eatery to Newport Avenue.

10) La Jolla: La Jolla Brewing Company
Address: 7536 Fay Ave.
The Scoop: New owners are giving this brewpub a much needed overhaul by enlisting a new experienced brewer and undertaking a thorough renovation of space, which will serve a comfort food menu.
Projected Opening: September

11) Little Italy Harbor Cafe
Address: 1502 India St.
The Scoop: This new breakfast and joint will bring diner food favorites to the Little Italy neighborhood. The 1,100-square-foot eatery is building an old fashioned diner counter to serve up their down home menu.
Projected Opening: October

12) Carlsbad: Blue Ocean
Address: 2958 Madison St.
The Scoop: Bells & Whistles is designing this spacious new sushi restaurant, complete with a full bar and robata-style grill. The 3,000-square-foot comes from the owners of Love Boat Sushi.
