Lots more news out of North Park, where the proprietors of Waypoint Public, once home to The Linkery, have named a new executive chef and partner on the project.
Amanda Baumgarten, formerly of Herringbone, is joining a team that includes Bottlecraft Bottle Shop owner Brian Jensen and John Pani, a local hotel and hospitality vet.
?The 5,000-square-foot space will undergo a thorough redesign that'll bring more light into the space and include a custom 30-tap system for beer and wine, a back patio with lounge chairs and a kid's area.
Baumgarten's menu will feature a selection of sausages and charcuterie made in-house, plus dishes such as fennel salad with charred local octopus, Salvadoran pupusas with oyster, bacon and jalapeno-apple slaw and flank steak with dirty rice, mustard greens and chimichurri aioli. Her homemade desserts include Banoffe Pie with toffee custard and a blackberry pie with pecan ice cream.
The restaurant will start with dinner service, then add weekend brunch and happy hour. Waypoint Public is scheduled to open in early October.
