A kind tipster sent us a photo of a new pizza concept whose first shop is set for a September opening.
The College area's Social Life Pizza will be serving fast-casual Neapolitan-style pizza, cooked at 900 degrees in a Forno oven. Social Life's founder, Joseph DeSantis, is a vet of the food industry, whose family has operated a chain of pizzerias and quick-service Italian eateries.
Their pizza dough, made with Italian Double Zero flour, goes through a 48-hour fermentation process that promises a crust that's "crispy with a perfect chew and slight char". The menu includes the traditional Margherita made with San Marzano tomatoes, a white pie with prosciutto di Parma, arugula, and parmigiano reggiano and customizable pizzas whose toppings range from pesto to BBQ sauce, bacon and eggs.
More locations are planned, but this first spot will seat 60 and include a 10-handle craft beer bar and California wine list; hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday to Thursday and 11 a.m. to midnight on the weekends.
