You've been asking us what The Lion's Share was planning to do once they got the keys to the Hubcap space when the eatery shuttered last month.
Managing partner Hassan Mahmood tells Eater that they'll be opening the Coin-Op Game Room, an upscale dive bar whose walls will be lined with vintage arcade games; think Pacman, Frogger, Donkey Kong, etc.
The plan is for craft cocktails and craft beer, plus food, at reasonable prices; Scott Mickelson (Prepkitchen Little Italy, The Grand Del Mar), who took over The Lion's Share kitchen in January, will oversee the food program here.
No drastic changes to the building are being made, but they will redo the bar and design a new storefront that allows for more natural light and greater street visibility.
Mahmood said that North Park "is the most electric neighborhood in San Diego and we are very excited to be a part of it. We're aiming to put forth a simple bar space with a fun environment that can be a daily watering hole for the neighborhood." Coin-Op Game Room will likely open in October.
