Marine Room Cooking Class; New Menu at The Pearl; Craft Beer & Cocktail Showcase

LA JOLLA— Executive chef Bernard Guillas and chef de cuisine Ron Oliver of The Marine Room are planning a "Gone Fishing" themed cooking demo followed by a three course dinner on Wednesday, August 7 at 6 p.m.; the class, dinner (scallop and shrimp risotto, barbecued wahoo and peach-blueberry crisp) and wine pairings are $75. POINT LOMAEAT at The Pearl just debuted a new dinner menu, which includes a sunflower sprout and watermelon salad and an entree portion of their popular brunch fried chicken, here served with Virginia ham-spiked braised greens and a fresh basked biscuit. The restaurant at The Pearl Hotel is also gearing up for "Bite Nites", running August 5-7 to coincide with The Discovery Channel's Shark Week; they'll offer Thresher shark snacks, shark-themed craft beer and screen "Jaws" on August 7. DOWNTOWN— On Saturday, August 3 from 4 to 8 p.m., El Dorado is hosting its annual Craft Beer and Cocktail Showcase to On-Life Suicide Prevention Organization. A $25 ticket entitles you to ten beer tastings from a dozen breweries and two cocktails from participating craft cocktail bars.
