Fathom Bistro's New Brunch; Thorn St. Brewery Grand Re-Opening; From Farm to Bay Food & Wine Classic

SHELTER ISLAND— Your favorite beer bar on a pier is debuting their new brunch service this Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fathom Bistro Bait & Tackle proprietor and head chef Dennis Borlek has crafted a new menu that includes loco moco, a Hawaiian breakfast favorite that smothers rice, a hamburger patty and a fried egg in gravy. NORTH PARKThorn St. Brewery opened late last year but they're having a grand re-opening party on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. to celebrate their new ability to serve pints of beer and to raise money for Alex's Lemonade Stand, which support children with cancer. Thorn St. will have Red Oven Pizza on hand and Jerry Sanders will preside over a ribbon cutting at 6 pm. [EaterWire]

CHULA VISTA— Doesn't this sound delicious: on Saturday, August 3 from 5 to 9 p.m., the From Farm to Bay Food & Wine Classic will be held at The Living Coast Discovery Center. Chef Andrew Spurgin curated the eateries who will be feeding event-goers; they include Brooklyn Girl, Sea Rocket Bistro, Romesco Baja Med Bistro, Blind Lady Ale House and Elizabethan Desserts.
