Tapenade Gets a Makeover, Sublime Tavern Launches in Del Mar; New Tex Mex for University Heights

New, 1 comment

LA JOLLATapanade joined the ranks of the Eater 38 and has a fresh new look; the French restaurant just gave its dining room a makeover. Walls were painted, floors darkened and chairs replaced; new mirrors and artwork have been added and the banquettes are now covered in banquette in cozy red velvet. Chef Jean-Michel Diot has also introduced new menu item, including daily "plat du jour" specials that range from rabbit on Wednesdays to bouillabaise on Fridays. [EaterWire]

DEL MAR— After a short delay, Sublime Tavern officially opens today with three celebratory local brews made for the occasion: a Belgian IPA from Mother Earth, a hoppy amber from Belching Beaver and a Scotch ale by Rip Current will be among the 55 beers on tap. Our Eater Inside gallery takes you into the spacious new eatery. [EaterWire]

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS— A tipster wrote to say that a new joint called Tommy's, The Original Tex Mex is going in at 4506 30th St. between Monroe and Madison. It's not related to the Tommy's Tex Mex/Don Tommy's in Ocean Beach. [EaterWire]
