Good Time Design pulls the curtain back on their newest East Village venture, Southpaw Social Club, on Friday at 4 p.m.

The Petco Park-adjacent historic Schiefer & Sons Aeroplane Co. building, which once housed El Vitral, has new sidewalk seating on J Street and a back bar and patio that looks onto the ballpark. The main bar, with its overhang of distressed timber, holds 32 craft beer taps; Blind Tiger Cocktail Co. consulted on a list of lemon and limeade based cocktails, including The Border Barnstormer with chipotle limeade, cucumber, tequila and mezcal.

Chef-partner Rich Sweeney designed the comfort food menu in collaboration with The Blind Burro's Todd Nash and Southpaw's new exec sous chef, Chris Trevisin (Vintana); highlights include roasted chicken pot pie, fig & bacon flatbread, spicy mussels and clams sauteed with sausage and kale and a lobster roll. Sweeney says he's partial to the Fat Boy mac and cheese, made with smoked cheddar and topped with pretzel crumbs.

Southpaw Social Club is open daily from 11 to 2 a.m., with a weekday 4 to 7 p.m. happy hour.
