Tonight's the first official dinner service for La Jolla's gleaming and global new seafood brasserie, The Hake Kitchen & Bar.

Chef partners Federico Rigoletti and Roberto Craig are on hand to make sure the kitchen finds its groove with the menu, which includes roasted octopus done patatas bravas-style, tuna sirloin fried like chicharron and used to fill tacos and the catch of the day, striped sea bass offered two ways: sashimi-style dressed with ginger, ponzo, sesame oil and lemon zest, or as an entree with olives, tomatoes and watercress in a caper butter sauce.

The breezy space should start hosting live entertainment within the next week or two; dinner service starts at 5 p.m. tonight and their regular hours of operation (Sunday to Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Friday and Saturday 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m.) kick in starting Wednesday.
