San Diegan Hopes To Be Next Food Network Star

Stacey Poon-Kinney is one of the 12 contestants vying for Food Network Star-dom when the ninth season of the show premiers on Sunday, June 2 at 9 p.m.; audience votes will determine the winner, to be announced in the finale on August 11.

Poon-Kinney is the co-owner of The Trails Eatery in San Carlos, which was featured on the Food Network's Restaurant Impossible in 2011. She'll be working with star mentors Alton Brown, Giada De Laurentiis and Bobby Flay as they help the contestants bolster their on-camera charisma and kitchen chops.

Upcoming episodes feature a Chopped-themed mystery ingredient, a live, on-camera test with E! News and an Italian cooking challenge; look for recent San Diego visitor, Guy Fieri, to also make a guest appearance.
