Eater San Diego has just learned that North Park's El Take It Easy will close this month; the restaurant's last day will be April 22, the final scheduled dinner of their Get Out If You Can pop-up.

Jay Porter (The Linkery), who opened the eatery in 2010, told Eater that the "El Take It Easy has run its course," and though its Baja-inspired concept had a great start, "there wasn't a big enough community around it to support the space". He writes, "We hope to spend the last couple weeks celebrating the many great things that came out of the project, including the friendships and ties we developed with the Baja culinary community."

This isn't the end of Porter's Mexican-influenced food projects (he's exploring related endeavors in San Francisco and Baja), or the end of his residence in ETIE's prime, 30th Street location.

He intends to reopen in May with a new concept that he says will still focus on "great food, great drinks and high quality ingredients". Details are forthcoming, but expect an entirely different kind of cuisine, decor and kitchen staff; ETIE's chef Max Bonacci is moving on.
