Cafe Turns Beer Tavern; New Openings Around Town

MISSION HILLS— A quick switcheroo has turned Toma Sol Cafe into Toma Sol Tavern. The new eatery serves lunch and dinner, features 12 craft beers on tap, plus estate wines; get $1 off drinks during their 3 to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday happy hour. A grand opening is scheduled for May 4. [Facebook]

DOWNTOWN— The Gaslamp dessert shop, Cremolose (840 5th Ave), shuttered in late March. We're now hearing that it'll be replaced with something called the Lucky Bastard Saloon, which is still in the design and construction phase. [EaterWire]

MISSION VALLEY— Arriving soon in the spot vacated by Benningan's (1760 Camino Del Rio N.) is The Broken Yolk Cafe. This will be the breakfast and lunch spot's tenth area location. [EaterWire]

PACIFIC BEACHBite of Boston, which specializes in New England-style sub sandwiches, soups and fried seafood platters, is in the process of opening its third location at 4651 Mission Boulevard. The eatery already has outposts in Rancho Bernardo and University City. [EaterWire]
