CBS is launching a new reality cooking show, called "The American Baking Competition", on Wednesday, May 29 at 8 p.m. Local chef, Marcela Valladolid, who has authored two cookbooks and hosted "Mexican Made Easy" on the Food Network, has been named one of the judges. Her baking qualifications? Valladolid studied at Paris' Ritz Escoffier cooking school to become trained as a classical French pastry chef. (In other T.V. chef news, the finale of ABC's "The Taste", starring Brian Malarkey, airs this coming Tuesday; the chef's hosting a viewing party at Herringbone). [EaterWire]
