John Rudolph, a co-owner of Harry's Coffee Shop in La Jolla, is set to open an eatery in Ocean Beach called the Newport Avenue Yacht Club. Rudolph's done a nautical-themed remodel to a space formerly occupied by El Rodeo taco shop and says that he'll be serving a simple menu of fish sandwiches and salads.
The restaurant was originally meant to be a collaboration with Juan Bernardo, the owner of Pacific Beach's popular Oscar's Mexican Seafood, but the partners have since parted ways. In addition to serving his food a few nights a week at Bar West, Bernardo told Eater that he's hoping to sign a lease within the next week for a second, larger location with patio seating off the north end of Mission Boulevard.
