CARMEL VALLEY— A tipster gave us a head's up that the partners behind Villa Capri 2 in the Torrey Highlands mall have taken over the lease of the shuttered Twisted Vine Bistro & Wine Bar and will be re-opening the spot and reusing the name. The new eatery will serve Spanish-style tapas and is expected to open in a few weeks. [EaterWire]

AROUND TOWN— The champion of "The Taste", chef Khristianne Uy, is coming to town for a series of dinners with her show mentor, Brian Malarkey. They'll be at Gabardine on Wednesday, March 27 and downtown at Searsucker on Thursday, March 28 for multi-course, wine paired meals. On Friday, March 29, Chef K will team up with Burlap's Anthony Sinsay (check out his recent Eater interview) for a $75 tasting menu that highlights both of their culinary sensibilites. [EaterWire]
