Hey Oceanside, Meet Hello Betty Fish House

A new North County restaurant is holding a food truck pop-up at the Oceanside Civic Center Plaza this Wednesday, March 13 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. that'll raise funds for a local non profit, The Semper Fi Fund , and be a meet-and-greet for the community.

The Denver-based Sage Restaurant Group has begun construction on their first San Diego restaurant, Hello Betty Fish House, at 110 North Myers Street in Oceanside.

Scheduled to open in early 2014, the 5,000-square-foot, two-level restaurant will seat over 300 and encompass multiple outdoor dining areas. Peter Karpinski, Co-Founder and COO of Sage Restaurant Group, who once lived in Pacific Beach, says that Hello Betty Fish House "will create new jobs for area residents, strengthen the tax base of downtown Oceanside, and bring new business and travelers to the region."

If this concept proves successful, the group plans to expand their San Diego presence; they currently operate restaurants in Oregon, Colorado, the Midwest and Pittsburgh.

Wednesday's food truck will give locals a taste of Hello Betty's menu, selling Baja fish tacos with crispy pilsner-battered fish and plancha-seared shrimp tacos topped with green chile aioli, peach-habanero salsa and Brussels sprout slaw. The eventual restaurant will feature Baja and American beach food favorites, and fresh seafood displays that should give it a fish market feel.
