LA JOLLA— Beaumont's Eatery reopened today after a temporary 10-day shutter to give the restaurant a mini face lift. Additions include a new color scheme and local artwork, plus a communal table and a madeover bar area. Exec Chef George Morris (check out his Industry Dish interview) is also adding a slew of new dishes to the menu, including crispy pork belly with tamarind BBQ sauce and a southern wedge salad with fried chicken. EAST VILLAGE— The Blind Burro has added a fun new element to its food service. Every Wednesday, a dim sum-inspired cart is wheeled through the dining room, allowing eaters to point and choose from an array of bite-sized tastes or small plates from the restaurant's Baja-influenced menu from $3 to $7. The assortment varies weekly, but could range from raw oysters to mini cocktails. [EaterWire]
CARLSBAD— Bistro West, which shares a nearby three acre farm with sister restaurant West Steak & Seafood in the West Inn & Suites, is planning a wine pairing dinner with Napa Valley's Whitehall Lane Winery & Vineyards. The March 12 event is five-course dinner that starts at 6:30 and is $75/person. Call (760) 930-8008 to reserve. [EaterWire]
