Despite its tucked away location, in a quiet strip mall near the Sorrento Valley Coaster station, Zumbar Coffee & Tea has developed a loyal, caffeinated following for their expertly-pulled espresso and house-roasted beans, which owner Steve Rayle roasts on a 1950's cast iron Probat machine.
Devotees will be excited to hear that another Zumbar cafe is coming soon, within the next few months. Rayle considered a few locations around San Diego, but has settled on a 700 square foot space in Cardiff at 111 Chesterfield Drive, just a stone's throw from venerable V.G. Donut & Bakery.
Rayle told Eater that because of the small size of the new location, he won't be putting in another roaster there. Zumbar currently wholesales their beans to the new Sugar Coffee & Tea and Extraordinary Desserts.
