Newport Pizza Enters Brewing Game With OB Brewery

New, 1 comment

Eater spoke with Newport Pizza & Ale House's owner, Mike Tajran, a longtime Ocean Beach business owner, about his plans to open a brewery on one of the beach town's main drags.

Tajan has purchased a 4,600 square foot three-story building across from his pizza and craft beer shop on Newport Avenue, and is in the process of turning it into a brewpub called OB Brewery.

He's installing an elevator that'll run people up to a rooftop deck, and there will be bar and restaurant seating for 50 to 75 people. The menu is still being decided, though Tajran says he's thinking about sausages and sandwiches or perhaps Middle Eastern cuisine; the bar will include at least 25 taps of house brewed and guest beer. He hopes to open the brewery by the beginning of June, and has tapped Brett Stampf, formerly of Green Flash Brewing Co., as head brewer.
