SEA180° Coastal Tavern, the Cohn Restaurant Group's new Imperial Beach endeavor, has opened in Imperial Beach.
The 10,000-square-foot restaurant is on the ground floor of Pier South, the new beachfront boutique hotel that, according to the U-T, is scheduled to open later this month or in early January.
Executive chef Ken Irvine, who is also the concept developer of the Gaslamp's new Encore Champagne Bar & Dining Room, describes the food at SEA180° as "Baja-Med cuisine with Pacific Rim, French, Italian and Mediterranean flavors"; dishes include duck "carnaditas" with caramelized onions, pineapple salsa and aged goat cheese and grilled whole fish with herbs, asparagus and cilantro mojo.
The restaurant's chef de cuisine is Jack Fisher, an I.B. native who is returning to his savory roots after an acclaimed career as an executive pastry chef for the Urban Kitchen Group and NINE-TEN, among others; read his recent Eater Interview here.
SEA180° is open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day from 2 to 8 p.m.; regular operating hours are lunch 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and dinner from 5 to 10 p.m. The restaurant will start breakfast service when the hotel is official open.
