Old School Bakery in Little Italy to Reboot & Expand

Solunto's Bakery, the decades-old Little Italy landmark that supplies bread to many of the city's Italian delis and restaurants, was purchased and renamed a few years ago by Antonino Mastellone, the prolific restaurateur who's partnering in that new South Park Italian eatery we were telling you about.

Mastellone says that one of his other projects for 2014 is to revamp the India Street space; he's currently working with an architect on plans to redo the bakery and restaurant, with the intention of adding a "Tavola Calda" component with prepared hot and cold food to-go.

The new Solunto's will also feature gelato and a rosticceria that'll roast everything from chickens to porchetta.
